Fort Wayne: “All America City’ Award Winner
Fort Wayne Indiana has won the “All America City” award three times, in 1982 1998 and 2009, putting this city in this award’s hall of fame. Only ten communities per year are recognized as recipients for this national award. Fort Wayne’s motto is “All Together Now.” this northeasters Indiana community has been recognized for many reasons. Great Kids Make Great Communities is an inspirational program that has helped Fort Wayne in winning this award. This program assists children in the local area and provides limitless opportunities to these children. Another reason why Fort Wayne has won this award is the city’s well known assistance with refugees throughout the community. They assist and introduce refugee throughout the Fort Wayne area while also integrating and providing resources and limitless opportunities for these refugees. The All America City award is chosen by a panel of city leaders from across the country and typically has around thirty cities that are all competing for the award. Every year ten winners are chosen and while they vary from year to year, Fort Wayne has proven that it consistently is an all american city. There are only a handful of cities that have managed to accomplish winning this award three or more times.
