Fort Wayne, Indiana was recently voted the county’s “Most Livable City,” and with good reason. Fort Wayne boasts great attractions, a modest cost of living, great schools and amenities and a plethora of great shops, restaurants, museums, theaters and parks for its residents. With its big city amenities and small town charm, Fort Wayne offers the best of both worlds.

One of the top reasons for Fort Wayne’s high livability is its rich cultural and historical attractions. The city plays host to some of America’s finest museums, theaters and cultural institutions. In Fort Wayne, residents and visitors alike can enjoy great museums like the Fort Wayne Museum of Art, the Kachmann gallery and the unique Artlink gallery. The city also boasts the impressive Fort Wayne History Center and Science Central, a fascinating hand-on science and technology museum. Fort Wayne is also home to the Allen County Public Library, one of the top public libraries in the Midwest.

Fort Wayne is packed with nightlife and entertainment opportunities as well. The city is home to the Embassy Theater. Built in 1928, it is one of the largest and most historic cinema theaters in the country. Sports fans also find enjoyment in the city’s sports teams. Fort Wayne is home to the Fort Wayne Komets hockey team, the Fort Wayme Freedom indoor football team and the Fort Wayne Tin Caps, a Class A affiliate team of the San Diego Padres baseball franchise. In addition, Fort Wayne is packed with award-winning restaurants, great shops and boutiques and an abundance of music venues, bars, movie theaters and cafes.

Fort Wayne also offers many great parks and recreational opportunities. These include Johnny Appleseed Park, the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo and the Foellinger-Freiman Botanical Conservatory.

These cultural attractions and entertainment options, combined with the city’s excellent schools, low crime rate and Midwest charm, make Fort Wayne America’s most livable city by far.
